Tinie Tempah creates workwear-inspired collection for What We Wear

Fashion Articals

As a singer songwriter turned designer, Tinie Tempah is no stranger to a high profile career trajectory. But it was Londons everyday workforce which inspired his latest collection for label What We Wear at London Fashion Week Mens today. If you go back 60 years, men like my Dad and my Grandad were defined by the job they had, says Tempah, speaking backstage after his third on-schedule show. We spend the majority of our lives working, from the age of 18 to 63, and most jobs require a uniform. The south Londoner - born Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu Jr in Peckham to a social worker father and NHS administrator mother - cited the capitals public service workers and manual labourers, from the DLR operator to the construction worker or window cleaner, as the influence behind his contemporary take on uniform for both work and the weekend.
