Blog Entry Eight, March 17st 2017

Hi Folks Welcome to my very first blog where I am going to take start of blog writing.

This is Maleeka from SOCH the NEWS of Dallas desk , and I am writing this blog just to clear some myths for people who think getting becoming disabled will ruin one’s life. Life is so beautiful and colorful just the eyes to see life in such way is needed
How can I forget that day when I was sitting in Parkland Hospital Dallas,TX on Oct, 15, 2013 when the neurologist told me “Ms Hassan, You have MS”. I was totally heart broken yet it was a start of new chapter of life with every day full of new challenges. They kept me admitted for 18 days in hospital to do different scans and were giving me different infusions, and plasma exchange. Then finally it was my good luck the doctors put me on Tysabri.

But in the start my neurologist scared me ,they told me that “ Tysabri could cause a fatal brain cancer Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML)”

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disabling disease which is very challenging to diagnose and treat and usually progresses over time. The immune system attacks the central nervous system, which is comprised of the brain and spinal cord.
In a poll of more than 2,000 people with MS, 87% said they experienced some limitation to their walking ability and limited activities that involved walking
Most people with MS develop depression, either from the disease itself, or from suffering from the symptoms over time.Depression in MS sucks as 6 months before I suffered a lot,I started to rush away from my home as just wanted to work just to keep myself busy. It took almost 6 months to cope and to come out of this whole situation. Now? when I was sitting in front of my psychologist Dr Fogel and was saying I have suffered a lot now I deserve just happiness with watery eyes.
Currently I am continuing my MS treatment using Tysabri, a monthly infusion. It is the best available medicine and I am very fortunate to have this treatment. Another even better medicine called Ocrelizamab is to be approved this month. I am hopeful that this new drug will have less risks, especially for PML, the deadly brain cancer.
For me, life with MS can be like a flower which has no fragrance. MS depression can be overwhelming and I often feel like I have no purpose in life. I am hopeful that the new medicine and the help from my new phycologist will make my days better.
It will keep us all hopeful

Hello, discerning authors, fellow readers!

Blog Entry Eight, March 1st 2017 9:45pm

David, the author spotlighted today, is the Author of Strings, The Dwellers Saga, The Country Saga, Salem's Revenge, Slip Trilogy, Evolution Trilogy, and The Adventures of Nikki Powergloves. Today is about SLIP, GRIP, and FLIP!!!! Seeing as how we are all so time-poor, I am sincerely grateful for you reading my blog today. I truly love to hold myself to a high standard of ethics, and only spotlight authors and books that I have read and truly fell in love with. This is to assist the authors with sales and promote books that truly are just a fun read or makes you think, and makes you excited to talk about and share with your friends, family, children, anyone! I honestly hope that you will take just a moment more to click the link(s) and show the author some love. I will be giving one of his books to one lucky winner today, you only need to email me and request it, at Please put DAVID ESTES in the subject line. It is an honor to assist authors who just have that extra “IT." You know it when you read their work. Stephen King, Lee Child, J.D. Robb, Harlan Coben, Sue Grafton, I mean I can go on and on about all the authors who just have “IT”….Here, for your consideration is another author who has “IT!” Recently, by accident, I discovered an amazing author who I cannot rave enough about! His name, David Estes. He is super talented! I reached out to him and asked him if I could highlight him and lucky for all of us, David agreed! I am on 2 separate services for books that are either about to be published, already published or up for a contract with Amazon. Those services are NetGalley and Kindle Scout. I saw one book that I had just gotten free from a newsletter signup, “SLIP”. (Upon signing up, you will receive book one of four separate series, Slip, Fire Country, The Moon Dwellers and Brew, and will also be added to his Awesome Reader Team.) Upon finishing SLIP, I went to review it on Amazon. There I saw the remainder of the series, Grip and Flip. Deciding to thin out my TBR list before getting them, I went to NetGalley to review a book I had finished the day before. I could have been knocked over with a feather when I saw Grip AND Flip both there on the site…I immediately reached out to David and begged him to let me read and review them as well as host him here on my blog. With a very prompt reply, I received those books through Netgalley and his publisher. I read for the rest of the day and well in to the night. David really went above and beyond to do this for me, and I am so grateful to have received the series. Sharing the word with the public is an honor. I have only read these three books, not the other series and this Monday I intend to start Brew. I cannot wait as it sounds interesting to me, and yes, I will let you know how those three books are as well! Here is the description on Amazon about SLIP:

“Someone must die before another can be born... As sea levels rise and livable landmasses shrink, the Reorganized United States of America has instituted population control measures to ensure there are sufficient resources and food to sustain the growing population. Birth authorization must be paid for and obtained prior to having a child. Someone must die before another can be born, keeping the country in a population neutral position at what experts consider to be the optimal population. The new laws are enforced by a ruthless government organization known as Pop Con, responsible for terminating any children resulting from unauthorized births, and any illegals who manage to survive past their second birthday, at which point they are designated a national security threat and given the name Slip. But what if one orphan slipped through the cracks? What if someone knew all the loopholes and how to exploit them? Would it change anything? Would the delicate resource balance be thrown into a tailspin, threatening the lives of everyone? And how far would the government go to find and terminate the Slip? In a gripping story of a family torn apart by a single choice, Slip is a reminder of the sanctity of a single life and the value of the lives we so often take for granted.”

Now how is THAT for grabbing you and shaking you? You HAVE to get this book! The writing, the characters, it is so deep! As the series progresses to FLIP and GRIP. you get to see the main character grow up, and his role evolves and there are just so many layers that you will immerse yourself and feel that you have sunk your teeth into a substance so satisfying, you will crave more. I highly recommend this series, for all ages. I only hope the series will continue, and that you read it, love and review it as I have. Please go to his site and sigh up for the starter library and get the word about this incredible author out, it is talent that we need to share to keep our reading addiction filled to the brim! David; A personal thank you for your amazing work! I myself have OCD, and know the struggle is real! That draws to conclusion my author of the day. Please, take time to go sign up!!/davidestesbooks

Welcome!Today, we are going to be meeting another author whom I think all ages will enjoy reading! I finished her book, titled “End Game,” about a week ago. I have since been eagerly waiting to share the book with you! First, I need to mention her super snappy bio! (Inside joke). This is what Ginger told me (this is actually from her website, so I guess she is telling the whole world, not “me”, I just wanted to pretend I was very important for a moment) about herself! “Born in Connecticut, I went on walkabout for 14 years before returning to my beach-front hometown. I've lived in New York City, Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins in Colorado, Dallas, and Tokyo, and travelled widely in addition. (I was in Dallas and Tokyo and travelled around Europe while working for Texas Instruments, developing semiconductor design software.)” Ginger seems to be a very well rounded and interesting person, and it has been wonderful getting to know her on a personal level, she is a very down to earth and sweet person, and I loved her Calm Act series. It is a future we hope never happens. Booth’s book, End Game, is the first in the series titled Calm Act. It is dystopian in nature. P. A. Glaspy, whom I profiled last week, and Ginger, need to get together and collaborate, am I right?  Here is some information about the book! Book 1: End Game: “As the U.S. unravels, media and corporation offer a shining grail of salvation: to be one of the select few to secure safety in an ark. Dee Baker’s Fortune 100 media job promises her an ark berth, and for backup she’s dating fun and wealthy ark-itect Adam. But fellow gardener and neighbor Zack plans to make his stand outside the arks. Dee needs to choose whether to protect herself, or risk it all to help others. Trying to have it both ways could be the riskiest gambit of all.” Sound good? IT IS! Click here to get it and there is another book listed here as well for you to check out: Sound good? IT IS! Click here to get it and there is another book listed here as well for you to check out: You can also reach her by visiting these links! Her Website: Indoor vegetable gardening: End Game (book 1) is also on a Kindle Countdown Deal for just $0.99 in the US, to celebrate the launch and turn more people on to the series. :) Please share with your friends! Buy End Game Now! That is a wrap today. Hello, my readers!

First of all I would like to do a poll… Now that you have had a chance to go to all the sites I am posting my blog, can you please shoot me an email and let me know which one you like the best? Just say SOCH, facebookblog, bravesit, wix or wordpress…. I would really appreciate it. This is for the author and the reader, and ease of use, the best looking, fastest loading, take all of that into consideration… It is VERY time consuming to put up all of these every day so I need some feed back….
my regular facebook page as well,

Blog Entry Seven February 22nd, 2017 9:45pm

In case you had not had a chance to see all of them then all the links are above. Please let me know. The SOCH is permanent, I have just decided to run it alongside that blog site for more viewership, then ultimately will run it only on SOCH… If I do not get enough viewership or followers then I will never get to that stage, and no one seems to know SOCH has a blog or what it is about, that’s why I am here. (Making magic happen!)

Now for today’s author highlight, please give a warm welcome to Patty A. Glaspy!

She is an amazing and talented author! I will be show casing her wonderful novel,

Before the power was gone

Patty has said a lucky winner will get a copy of this, email me for the instructions!!!! Here is a little about Patty. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother who living in Middle Tennessee and loves to read, play puzzle games, cook, sew, and crochet. Some of her favorite things to do are to go camping and fishing with her husband. Having written poems and songs in her younger years, she never thought about writing a novel until she had the idea for When the Power is Gone. An avid reader of the genre, she felt a need for a story line written from a "regular woman's" perspective. She has plans for at least three books in the A Powerless World Series. I love hearing from you, so please let me know what you liked, didn't like, loved, or hated about any of my novels. You can contact me on Facebook, Twitter, through my website, or via email.

If there is a need for being prepared for the world coming to a screeching halt, such as an EMP, or even a natural catastrophe, read this book. It is not a how to manual, but there are things in here that you would never think of needing to know, that COULD just save your life! A must read type of book for the survivalist, or even the one who calls themselves a prepper, or even just for a quick fun read! An excerpt: My name is Anne Mathews. I'm a prepper. But I haven't always been. This is how it started….

Russ and Anne Mathews live in a rural suburb in Tennessee. Regular people, with regular jobs, living a normal life – except for one thing. They are what many people call “preppers”. They have stocked up on supplies to survive any kind of event they can think of that may occur to disrupt life as they know it. When that event comes, they start preparing for the new way of life they will face. Along with their teenage son, and their next door neighbors and best friends, they plan their exit from a neighborhood too close to the city to a farm in the country. They just have to get there. Their faith in their own capabilities and in humankind will be challenged, as they fight to protect and keep their supplies and, quite possibly, their lives. When the Power is Gone is the first book in the A Powerless World Series, dealing with how life might be lived after an EMP. If you like post-apocalyptic fiction, this novel by P.A. Glaspy is a unique story from a woman’s point of view. Pick up your copy of When the Power is Gone today! That is all for today, I hope that you enjoyed reading this and please give feedback about the sites as well as hit follow on my face book blog, as that is the only way to follow my blog for now! Thanks so much!

This week, and the last, have been a BUMPY, BUMPY, BUMPY ride, and you all have my sincerest apologies. Blog Entry SIX February 21th, 2017 11:45pm

So…. As to my blog today, Wednesday the 22, I am introducing Philip Harris.

He was born in England, now lives in Canada, where he works for a large video game developer. Not content with creating imaginary worlds for a living, he spends his spare time indulging his love of writing. His published books include The Girl in the City Trilogy as well as homage to the old pulp science fiction serials - Glitch Mitchell and the Unseen Planet. His short fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines including The Jurassic Chronicles, Bones, Uncommon Minds, The Anthology of European SF, and Peeping Tom. He has also worked as security for Darth Vader. You can find more details of his work and his blog at: http://

The Girl in the City.

is a really good read!
Probably the best book to mention is The Girl in the City. It is the first book in a trilogy, all three books are on offer for 99c at the moment. The Amazon link: Philip also has a website and blog you can visit, it is nice! Philip has graciously agreed to give up a copy to one lucky winner! Email me for the details!

When I asked Philip what he is up to these days, here is his response: “I'm in the middle of writing the first three books of a post-apocalyptic zombie series. The first two books have been edited; I'm just wrapping up the third ready to send to my editor. Once that is done, I'll be starting the fourth ready to start releasing the series in a few months.” So there you have it, we are about to be blessed with the birth of another zombie series and since Philip is writing it, I cannot wait to read it! Philip really is a talented writer and even though I have only read a few of his books, they were so well written that I just have to spread the word about him, he is right up there with Lee Child and Harlan Corbin, writing-style wise! Give his work a chance!

That is it for today. Please, do not forget to drop me a line and let me know which site you prefer, for WHATEVER reason. I need to know and thanks for taking time to visit the sites as well as the authors!

HELLO! Let me start the day off with a BANG!!!! As many of you are new to my blog, I want you to know one thing about me. If there is a book in print, no matter the genre, it has a chance with me. I do however; prefer to read books with a strong lead with some type of involvement with solving crimes, dystopian or supernatural themes, or anything that just lets me escape reality for a while. I have been reading many author’s over the years that deal with justice for murder victims. I read all of J.D. Robb’s In Death series, as well as all of Lee Child’s series, with Jack Reacher, or recent movie fame, as well as Sue Grafton and Joanna. Fluke. I am just a fan of all these series.

Blog Entry SIX February 21th, 2017 11:45pm

Today I am here to highlight a super favorite Author, Darynda Jones. She is super talented and every time I read a book of hers, I imagine Charley, the grim reaper of all grim reapers, solving my sister and nieces murder case and it brings a lot of comfort and healing to me.

First Grave on the Right

is a really good read!
Darynda lives in the Land of Enchantment, also known as New Mexico, with her husband of almost 30 years and two beautiful sons, the Mighty, Mighty Jones Boys. Darynda has written an amazing series as well as other books. I will let you go to her website to see all of her amazing work! The series I am hooked on the most is GRAVE series, starting with First grave on the right, and Darynda is giving one copy away to a lucky winner! Please email me at with “request for DJ book” in subject line, and comment on my blog post at Winner selected at the end of the day!

Blog Entry FOUR February 20th, 2017 11:45pm

HELLO! WELCOME, my lovely readers! How nice of you to join me today! I want to start with some updates for you. First, I never really have introduced myself properly, or to give an idea of what I plan to do on this blog. My intention is to present high quality authors and the books they have written to you, to help sort out the best of the books out there. Meaning, I do all the hard work and read the books to pass on to you if it a THUMBS UP or a THUMBS DOWN. I intended to present and highlight one author a day, then on Friday do a follow up of the authors I presented all week, then in 6 months do a follow up on all the authors in that 6-month period, in case anyone missed an author. I have been with,, and many other sites for years. I have been reviewing on and for years. I am an ARC for over 70 well-known authors. An ARC is an Advanced Reader Copy that’s sent out to reader volunteers before the book is ever published. We look for errors, misspellings, plot weaknesses or holes, etc. Sometimes the author even asks us for ideas, or offers a competition to have a character named after us in the book. I have found it to be super exciting, and extremely satisfying and rewarding to help an author. It is extremely costly to have copyediting and if I can do it free and help an indie publisher, I am happy to do so. It is also my intention to do a free book a day! I will post titles books everyday, and if you are interested in any of them, email me and it is yours! To be fair I will leave the selection up for one month. Some of these are audio books, others are .Mobi, .Epub or .PDF. Today I am not doing any authors to be fair to last week’s authors. Next Monday I will be on track with an author and we will do the follow up on Friday. If anyone has a suggestion or idea, let me know and I will revamp the blog if it is doable and a gift is in it for the best suggestion as well!

Today’s book giveaway: City of Lies by Farah Cook

You are free to reach out to me at, for any questions, requests or just to say hello! am having fun presenting authors I feel have a universal appeal to all ages, ethnicity groups and sexes. Rest assured, I have read their work so that I can present only top quality books and authors to you. I do hope that you will take time to visit the author’s page for a quick look, even if the genre is not what you would normally read, and check out their work! Much thanks to all you readers, it is for US, the reader that these authors write! They need our support... Please feel free to share this blog post on the social media medium of your choice. Until tomorrow my new friends...

Blog Entry FOUR February 16th, 2017

HELLO! The weather outside is still confused and cannot make up its mind if it should be cold, hot or warm. In one day, it is all three. So, I have been cooking, cleaning and, you guessed it, reading while sitting down and taking a break between the work and listing to an audio book while hands are too busy to hold a book. Ah, the life of a BookWalla…

Blog Entry FOUR February 16th, 2017 11:45pm

I will get right down to today’s author and her book, What Happens in Bangkok. The authors name is Daryl Devore (@darydevore), and she lives in an in old farmhouse in Ontario, Canada, with her husband, a large salt water aquarium full of fish, a black cat named Licorice and some house ghosts. Her daughter has grown up and flown the nest. Daryl loves to take long walks up her quiet country road, snowshoe across the back acres and in the summer, kayak along the St. Lawrence River. Yoga is her non-writing passion. Several times a week she is on her mat. She has touched a moon rock, a mammoth and a meteorite. She's been deep in the ocean in a submarine, flown high over Niagara Falls in a helicopter and used the ladies room in a royal palace. Life's an adventure and Daryl's having fun living it.

What happens in Bangkok

is a really good read!
Erika Bailey, owner/manager of a drag queen club in Bangkok, Thailand, has happily settled into all aspects of her new life, except for her lack of a love life. When a new diva auditions, Erika is bewildered over her instant attraction to the blond God, Apollo. Darien Scott is on vacation after a world tour and mistakenly figures the safest place to be is at The Black Dragon with the head of a Triad. When the club is hit, Darien is the only person to get out alive. Now he's running from the police and a Triad. Mistake number 1. Disguised as a drag queen, he's hired by Erika, but falls hard for his new boss, then struggles with not coming clean with her. Mistake number
2. Can he fix his mistakes and find a life filled with love or is he headed straight for mistake number
3. To save Darien's life his brother asks, "Can you walk in high heels?"
This is a fun read, with lots of twist and turns, and to say the least, a little spicy! I enjoyed reading it! The author is also hosting a book giveaway, a free copy of my twisted fairy take- Sexy Red Hood. Anyone interested in her free book, email me I will certainly get the request to her, or email her and reference my blog post! Here are the links for anyone interested in any one of her books, and please stop by her pages and show her some love!

BLOG ENTRY ONE February 14th, 2017

What a day! It is dreary and partly cloudy 67degrees outside here in Dallas Texas. I finished a book about three days ago that I simply cannot get out ofmy head!An author that was new to me wrote the book. His name is Jason Blacker. What an amazing author! This is the photo on his Amazon page. I reached out to Jason and asked him if he would like to be my first blogged about author and I am so thankful that he agreed. I enjoyed a very nice few emails with him, asking him what he would like to share about himself and his work with my readers and here is what Jason shared with me.

About me:

I was born in Cape Town and raised in South Africa. We left just before I was conscripted into the army. The reason for leaving was because we didn't believe in the apartheid system and I didn't want to fight for a government that I didn't believe in.I've been Canada now for over 25 years, but still can't handle the winters... egad! Every year I wish to become a snowbird down south someplace. I love LA, Florida, Texas and Nevada for those reasons, and others. I'm an ethical vegan, and have been so for 27 years now. I love with my wife and 2 fat cats in the foothills of Alberta. I have 1 son who is studying physics at university. When it comes to smarts, he fell far from my tree... must get that from his mother's side! When I'm not writing novels, I enjoy playing squash, writing poetry and watching re-runs of Star Trek. All series!

2)DoHSRefering to His book, Dust on His Soul

This was the first novel I ever wrote. I started it when my son was born and I was living in Canada. Having given myself space from South Africa I wanted to explore the damage of apartheid, and also explore the life of Stephen Biko who I feel has not received the acknowledgement he deserves for being one of the great figures in the dissolution of apartheid and the founding of a democratic South Africa. His life is one of great tragedy against insurmountable odds, and yet, because of his great sacrifice, we have a new and just South Africa. However, I didn't want to make this book a biography, but rather an exploration of the type of character that Stephen Biko might have been. I wanted to try and understand the character and courage of someone such as Stephen Biko through a fictional retelling of his life. Please, visit

3)Current project

I am currently writing the next Lady Marmalade mystery. I am best known for my Anthony Carrick hardboiled mysteries and my Lady Marmalade cozy mysteries. Fourth Wall, the next Anthony Carrick mystery is heading out to my advanced readers soon and will be available in all awesome ebook retailers in the next couple of months. You can also visit and get this amazing series, The first one is free right now! Anthony Carrick is an ex-LAPD homicide detective with a dry wit and a thirst for justice... and whiskey. It's my nod and genuflection to the great hardboiled PIs like Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade. Lady Marmalade is my contribution to the cozies, with a nod to Agatha Christie in particular. LM mysteries take place around the two World Wars. She an older, grandmotherly sleuth who was based off of my two grandmothers, who are sadly deceased. I started out as a literary novelist and I have a couple of other "literary" novels. They are Livid Blue and Red Reign. Because I come from a literary and poetic background, I am more interested in character, but I also know the importance of plot of course!

4)Last thoughts

I write across a variety of genres, because I read in a variety of genres. I love sci-fi, and of course mysteries, but I've also written what I consider to be a pretty cool vampire series (The Misgivings of the Vampire Lucius Lafayette) which combines sci-fi with vampire horror. Lucius is a cool and kick-ass character. If readers are keen to try my mysteries for free, please sign up to my newsletter at my website Please like my Facebook author page too if you'd like to connect and stay up to date. In conclusion, this is an author who has three amazing series out, and something fun can be found by all! Jason has graciously offered three copies of Dust of His Soul, and the first three to email me at will win! These are digital copies, and may be downloaded in format of your choosing from SmashWords. I hope you have enjoyed todays blog, and that you will support the author, sign up for his newsletter and read and review his books. I will also post this to my facebook wall, please feel free to like my page and follow me! Thanks and I will be seeing everyone tomorrow! Aisha Hashmi

Read more “A first-rate psychological thriller with finely wrought characters, a tantalizing puzzle and just a touch of romance, all delivered with the sights, sounds and marvels that have Hawaii as a background.” Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite

I used to write children’s books – over fifty of them. Then I started to write my first mystery thriller, but a series of strange events heralded the arrival of a character called Selkie Moon into my life – and her mystery series was born. All these things are true.
1. A Rescue by Helicopter: When my hubby fell off a cliff and a boulder landed on him, things got a little scary. There was the helicopter rescue, six weeks in a remote hospital, seven rounds of surgery and six months in a wheelchair. I became his full-time care giver and the writing of my first thriller was put on hold. Then ...
2. A Strange Message: To cope with the stress of his accident, I had a series of massages. As soon as the therapist put her hands on me I knew that something strange was happening. Afterwards I woke in the middle of the night to a voice in my head saying: Write a mystery series about a mythical detective. What?
3. A Mythical Detective: The voice was like an order so I sat down at the keyboard until SelkieMoon turned up – a modern woman with a mythical name. The selkies are the seal people of Celtic folklore. Under the full moon, they peel off their skins and dance in human form. Selkie explores far-flung places full of secrets where she investigates modern mysteries tangled up in the local mythology. She arrived with her own personality. As one reviewer has said, “She’s sassy and funny with secrets that are endlessly fascinating.”
4. A Teensy Panic Attack: The book was set in Sydney, my home town, but when I visited all the locations looking for extra inspiration, none of the places ‘spoke’ to me. After hearing ‘the voice’ I trusted my intuition but I still went home in tears wondering what to do.
5. Into the Labyrinth: Instead of giving up on Selkie, I dropped her into a new place – Hawaii, where I’ve spent some time. She arrived in Honolulu with the vulnerability of the stranger in town (the malihini) and suddenly she was caught in a labyrinth of quirky characters and mythical clues (including a cowry shell) that threatened her sanity and her life.

Blog Entry THREE February 16th, 2017

HELLO! Welcome to the 3rd day of my blog! It is wonderful to show case such a diverse group of authors and the books they have written. Today, we are taking a walk on the wild and funny side… Imagine this. A cat. Cute and furry, right? Then imagine a burrito… mmmhhh, bur-rit-o… (Imagine Homer Simpson’s voice in your head)… Now, imagine a cat ON a burrito… Flying through space… what???!?! YEP, that’s right!!! That is the amazing cover on a book that caught my eye! I just HAD to investigate it!

Posted on February 16th, 2017 11:45 PM

Here is the book and a description:

Pete’s food truck at the University of New Mexico isn’t going well. Seniors dare freshman to eat his burritos. Frats use them for pledges and pranks. Rumors fly around campus that they are chupacabra ground up with rat. Pete needs a change, and it comes in the form of a physics experiment gone awry. After being sucked into the past, he stumbles across an ingredient that goes great in one of his creations. First, there was Marty McFly. Then there was Bill and Ted. And now Pete— Sounds interesting? I thought so, too! The author is Aaron Frale, a well-rounded guy. His first novel, Playlist of the Ancient Dead. Atmospheric Pressure is his second. He received an MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of New Mexico. He also sings and plays guitar for the prog/metal band Spiral that has released over 10 albums. He lives with his wife Felicia, two cats, and a small dog who thinks he's a large dog in Columbia Heights, MN.
So, how does one write a book about an animal flying around on food? Here is his answer!
“For this story, I decided to lock up the internal critic that told me, “No, don't write that, that's stupid." I wanted to write the most ridiculous story that I possibly could. A time travel burrito story with a cat pretty much covered the stupid quota. The rest of the story just fell into place.”
So,naturally, we all want to know the inspiration for the amazing cover and Aaron answered:
“I searched for space burritos and saw a photo of a cat on a burrito flying through space. I could not stop laughing. I shared the image with some friends, and they thought it was funny too. Eventually, I commissioned a cover artist to recreate it. I also added a cat to the story for continuity. When asked what writers inspire Aaron, he responded that one was Douglas Adams as he wrote Frale’s favorite comedy Science Fiction, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Frale used to listen to the radio drama, read the books, and watch all the movies, said Bless BBC America for revitalizing Dirk Gently, and he also loves Doctor Who. This was so fun to write today, and I hope you enjoyed reading it! Please support his getting it published!!!
